The Ottawa University softball team broke out of a mini-slump with a sweep of Peru State Thursday in Ottawa.

The Lady Braves won 9-1 in six innings and 15-9. Ottawa came into the doubleheader, losing three of its past four games.

Ottawa (8-4) smashed 30 hits in the doubleheader. Ottawa ended the opener with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Alyssa Miller led Ottawa with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Two of her hits were doubles and she stole a base.

Amanda Martinsen, Hailie Ray, Mikayla Oliphant had two hits and two RBIs each.

Ray  (4-0) had a complete game performance. She gave up three hits.

Ottawa’s offense was in high gear in the nightcap. Ottawa scored in five of the six innings. Ottawa scored four in the bottom of the first and five in the fourth. Ottawa pounded 18 hits.

Catherine Wallace and Becca Dunlop paced Ottawa with four hits each. Wallace scored four runs and Dunlop drove home five.

Cady Blevins had three hits and scored twice. Darin Lewis had two hits and two RBIs. Oliphant had three RBIs.

Morgan Shramek improved to 3-3. She went five innings and gave up four hits. Morgan Beckler tossed the final two innings.
