• Franklin County may go after new laurels in the shape of trapping records. One of the largest minks ever reported captured in this county or part of Kansas, was caught by C.F. Dale of Ottawa this week. The animal measured 32 inches in length and 5 inches wide. Mr. Dale sold the hide to George Day, fur dealer, for $8.

• A petition to vacate the Wasson & Devore’s addition to the city of Lane was before the county commissioners this morning.

• It is understood that at the council meeting tonight in Ottawa a resolution will be presented to the councilmen to submit to the people at a special election this spring, the proposal of adopting commission form of government in Ottawa to supplant the aldermanic form of city government. The people of Ottawa voted on this same proposal about two years ago, and on March 22 the special election returned a majority of 81 against the new rule. Considerable discussion took its course during the brief campaign for the new rule, and after the election the citizens felt that they had done the wise thing to reject the new rule until it had had a more thorough trial in other cities.
