• The annual Farmers Institute of Franklin County will be held Monday and Tuesday of next week. There is a good program this year and J.F. Staadt, secretary of the institute, says there will undoubtedly be a good attendance at the courthouse.

• Revisions of the Kansas criminal laws and court procedure is one of the purposes of a joint session of the Kansas State Society of Criminal Law and Criminology, Kansas Conference of Charities and Corrections, and the Association of Probate Judges. Bills have already been drawn up by the Criminal Law society providing for the change in the time allowed for appeal to the supreme court from two years to one year, for the sterilization of criminals and for the destruction of unhealthy houses.

• A parcels check room is being constructed in the southwest corner of the baggage room at the Santa Fe depot. Work began on it yesterday. There has been a demand for a check room a long time. Travelers with baggage wish to leave their belongings in safe hands if they desire to visit any place in Ottawa for a short time. If they left the baggage in the waiting rooms, it was at their own risk, and when it was stored in the baggage rooms or in the telegraph officer, there was always considerable trouble and inconvenience.
