Luther S. Umphenour, 89, Ottawa, passed away Feb. 25, 2013, in Ottawa.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Ottawa Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Pleasanton, the son of Ernie and Zoe Umphenour.
He graduated from Pleasanton High School and moved to Ottawa in 1948, living there since.
He was a plant superintendent for Baldwin-Ward Manufacturing Company (Skyhook Co.). From 1970 to 1987, Luther owned and operated, with his wife, Maxine, Weidner Oil in Ottawa. He also was a fishing guide at Table Rock Lake for many years. Luther loved hunting and fishing, but especially loved spending time with his family.
On June 22, 1947, Luther was united in marriage with Maxine Rose in Kansas City, Kan. They shared more than 52 years of loving marriage until Maxine passed away Dec. 3, 1999.
Mr. Umphenour also was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet DePriest and her husband, Harold, Highland Village, Texas; two sisters, Connie Fultz, Mound City, and Louise Phalen, Ohio; granddaughter, Angie Fafatas and her husband, Stephan, Lexington, Va.; grandson, Ryan DePriest and his wife, Lori, Katy, Texas; great-grandchildren, Canaan DePriest, Eden DePriest, Sophia Fafatas, Zoe Fafatas and Dean Fafatas.
