Homes and properties are selling across the area. Spring’s early arrival, no doubt, has more people in the house shopping mood. Ottawa’s Crown Realty counted seven of its real estate agents among some of the top performers in its company’s total sales production for 2011.

The company as a whole sold more than $156 million in real estate during calendar year 2011 at its various offices. One real estate agent topped the list with more than $5 million in sales for 2011. Two others exceeded $3 million in sales during the past year. Two others achieved more than $2 million in sales while the broker exceeded $1 million in sales, according to a recent advertisement in The Herald. That’s a great story to spread the word about.

Of course, Crown is one of many real estate firms in this area with many good things going on. Ottawa’s top four real estate agencies are teeming with top sellers who long have been part of the $5 million sales club. Ottawa and Franklin County homebuyers are fortunate to have such talented and well-trained heavy-hitters here to assist people with their property searches for commercial and residential properties as well as agricultural land.

Two historic and attractive Washburn homes — designed by Ottawa architect George Washburn — are for sale. Listing agent Bill Schleiter, with Prestige Real Estate, might tell you it’s an unusual set of circumstances to have two such distinguished homes available simultaneously and might very well be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Expect those properties to move quickly as more and more people regain their confidence in the economy (improving job numbers result in a real estate sales upturn with a trickle-up effect of people moving up a tier on their homes).

One of the important metrics for real estate agents, as well as sellers and buyers, is the number of days a property is on the market. The number of days continues to decline — albeit incrementally. That’s good news for some of the beautiful housing inventory we have here.

The Ottawa area Parade of Homes is just around the corner, set for the May 5-6 weekend. That’s a perfect time to buy or sell a home or other property. See one of our local real estate professionals for assistance on your property buying journey.
