NORTH NEWTON — The Ottawa University softball team set a single-game scoring mark Wednesday in North Newton against Bethel.
Ottawa swept Bethel, 20-2 and 8-0. The 20 runs set a new school record. Ottawa broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning and eight in the fifth.
Amanda Martinsen, Taylor Heffern, Lydia Budke and Alyssa Miller had two hits apiece. Budke and Miller both had home runs with Budke having five RBIs. Morgan Beckler earned her third win of the season. She pitched four innings.
Ottawa continued its offensive onslaught in the second game. Blevins and Budke led Ottawa with three hits apiece. Martinsen and Budke had two RBIs each.
Morgan Shramek earned her seventh win of the season. She had six strikeouts and gave up two hits.
Ottawa (15-8, 2-2) plays 1 p.m. today at home against Southwestern.
