The Ottawa High School girl soccer team has yet to put its game together. The Cyclones are still stuck in the rut of one bad half and one good half.

The bad half of Tuesday’s 9-0 home loss to Gardner was the first half. Ottawa was down 7-0 at halftime. Last week, Ottawa played a bad second half in another loss after leading 1-0 at halftime.

“What do we need to do is make us a two half team,” Ottawa coach Kelly Smith said. “We did not take the field at the same time as they did.”

Smith said the effort continues to be good, but the results have not been on the positive side. Ottawa missed several good scoring opportunities.

“We had some great shots on goal,” Smith said. “That is great to see. The keeper made some unbelievable saves.”

The coach liked how Ottawa made adjustments at halftime and took them to the field.

“We need to do it for 80 minutes,” Smith said.

Ottawa plays Monday at Piper.
