WELLSVILLE — Is a Dollar General in Wellsville’s future?
The Wellsville Planning Commission plans to conduct a public hearing Wednesday to consider rezoning a property from residential to commercial that local officials said could pave the way for the retailer to set up shop in the community.
The tract is located at 824 Chilton Ave., a 6,124-square-foot property just north of the Wellsville Market on K-33, according to the Franklin County Appraiser’s office website. A home and two detached garages currently occupy the land. The owner of the property, Janet Campbell, could not be reached for comment.
Jeanine Berrier, planning committee chairman, said the zoning change would be voted upon to possibly make space for a Dollar General store on the property. A Dollar General representative could not be reached for comment Friday.
Janet Sessions, planning commission secretary, said the home on the property currently is occupied.
The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wellsville City Hall, 411 Main St.
