OVERLAND PARK — The Ottawa High School volleyball team took steps forward in a three-set loss Thursday to Blue Valley Southwest in Overland Park.

Ottawa lost 25-22, 25-17, 28-26.

“This was a much better outing for us,” Ottawa coach Kendra Oberzan said. “Our energy and effort levels were good which translated into better play. The girls also did a great job of recovering quickly from mistakes and down times. They were working well together and building each other up throughout the match.

“Our passing was the difference in the match. We were facing aggressive serving, but we need to be able to control the ball in serve-receive if we want to have success at the end of the season.”

Ottawa plays 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Louisburg. It will be senior night and the players will don pink uniforms for breast cancer awareness.

The Franklin County Cancer Foundation will be in attendance to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. Donations can be made at the door.

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match.
