County government has given a thumbs up to continued economic development.

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved the 2013 contract with the Franklin County Development Commission Wednesday. The county will contract economic development services from the FCDC in 2013 at a cost of $60,000, according to the contract.

The City of Ottawa also contracts economic development services from the FCDC, and its portion of the agreement is set to be voted on by the city commission at its next regular meeting 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. If the commission approves the agreement, it too would pay $60,000 to the FCDC.

The county’s approval of the agreement is conditional based on the decision of the city. If the city commission chooses to make any changes to the agreement, the county board agreed to re-examine its agreement.

City commissioners are set to review the agreement with Jeff Seymour, FCDC executive director, during their study session 4 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 101 S. Hickory St., Ottawa.
