The Ottawa University softball team was swept Tuesday by Oklahoma Wesleyan in Ottawa. The Lady Braves lost 13-1 and 15-13.
In the opener, freshman Jenna Stigge and sophomore Lydia Budke had two hits each. Gabby Markham tossed three innings and had three strikeouts. Paige Williams had two strikeouts in two innings.
The nightcap was full of offense with 28 runs scored. Oklahoma Wesleyan led 5-2 after three innings. Alyssa Miller scored both Ottawa runs.
Oklahoma Wesleyan pushed four runs home in the top of the fourth for a 9-2 lead. Ottawa answered with three runs to pull within 9-5. Miller had a two-run single.
Wesleyan scored two in the fifth to extend the lead to 11-5. Ottawa scored three runs in the sixth to pull within 11-8. Mikayla Oliphant hit a three-run home run.
The Lady Eagles scored four in the top of the seventh to go up 15-8. Ottawa (1-3) scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Oliphant had four hits (two home runs and two doubles) and a school-record tying seven RBIs. Budke had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs.
Molli Morgan pitched five innings. Cad Brazelton tossed two innings.
