An ongoing construction project in Johnson County is expected to disrupt late-night Wednesday traffic on I-35.
All lanes of southbound I-35 are set to be completely closed 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday at Homestead Lane, where a new interchange and water treatment facility are being built to service the coming intermodal rail hub between Edgerton and Gardner. The closure will allow workers to set girders for the eastern portion of the new Homestead Lane bridge.
Motorists are expected to be rerouted to a marked detour. Southbound I-35 traffic will take the U.S. 56 exit for Gardner and head west on U.S. 56, traveling through Gardner and Edgerton, to southbound K-33. Motorists then will travel south on K-33, through Wellsville to southbound I-35.
