• The dense fog this morning is said to be held responsible by railroad men for the death of one Mexican and the serious injury of another near Le Loup this morning by the morning Kansas City passenger train. An extra gang of workmen is engaged on track work between Le Loup and Wellsville. Many Mexicans are scattered along the tracks and it is supposed that the two men who were struck by the train were working between the tracks.

• There was all kinds of joy among the fishermen of Ottawa today. The rise in the river Monday night and yesterday continued throughout last night. A steady sheet of water was rolling over the new dam this morning. A cloud of mist hovered around the dam as the water poured over and boiled and seethed. It was said today that the difference in the water levels between the dam and the waterworks dam west of Ottawa is about 9 or 10 inches. The amount of water backed up behind the new dam was very noticeable. The water was flowing steadily below the new dam today, and the stigma that the Marais des Cygnes had a wagon road in the middle of it was effaced.

• The Warner offices have been kept unusually busy this summer and fall caring for the orders for business, and it was early seen that an addition would have to be built to accommodate the gas engine business. That building is now almost completed and the capacity of the plant has been greatly increased. The fence machines will be kept busy at nights hereafter and also a part of the machinery in the foundry. This is the first time that the plant has had to work nights at this season of the year, and it shows a decidedly good business outlook both for the Warner plant and other lines of business as well.
