Russell L. Plumley, 77, Monroeville, Ind., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the East Liberty United Methodist Church with Pastors Ralph Klinker and Bill Farmer officiating. Interment is expected to follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, as well as 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

He was born Monday, June 17, 1935, in Van Wert, Ohio, the son of the late Dewey Plumley and the late Esther (Johnson) Plumley.

He was a 1953 graduate of Decatur High School.

He was owner and operator of R.L. Plumley, Inc. in Monroeville.

He married Dorcas E. Sautbine Sept. 4, 1954. She passed away Oct. 4, 2006.

Russell was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville, where he was active as an adult Sunday school teacher and was a former youth leader. He also had served as president of the church’s finance committee.

He was a former member of the Monroeville Lions Club. Russell was a professional shuffle board player in the Bradenton, Fla.,-area and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn Cress and husband, Stan, Convoy, Ohio; daughter, Judy Hook and husband, Cecil, Hicksville, Ohio; son, Stuart Plumley, Ottawa, Kan.; son, Thane Plumley and wife, Kathy, Van Wert, Ohio; brother, Harold Plumley and wife, Opal, Ocala, Fla.; brother, Dean Plumley, East Chicago, Ill.; brother, Chalmer Plumley and wife, Sue, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and sister, Eva Mae Rambo and husband, Phil, Ellettsville, Ind.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Rachel Crawford and husband, Chris, Beth Hook, Cecil Hook and wife, Alicia, Shelly Shivley and husband, Dan, Mike Cress and wife, Jill, Travis Plumley and wife, Angie, Josh Plumley, and Kyle Plumley; and 10 great-grandchildren, William Crawford, Ethan Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Aiden Hook, Charlotte Hook, Nate Shivley, Dylan Cress, Lucas Cress, Morgan Cress and Stella Rose Plumley.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Robert Plumley.
