Mildred F. Thompson, 95, Gardner, Kan., passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab Center, Baldwin City, Kan.

Graveside services are planned for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday before the services at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913) 856-7111.

Mildred was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Fontana, Kan., to Clarence and Jennie Belle (Keitel) Ellsworth.

She graduated from Fontana High School and earned a business degree from the University of Kansas in 1941.

Mildred married Gail R. Thompson January 6, 1946, in Fontana.

They lived in California, moving to Kansas City, Mo., in 1949 and then to Johnson County in 1962.

She was a bookkeeper for several small businesses. Her last position was for accountant Robert Milligan in Olathe.

Gail and Mildred moved to Gardner in 1999 to be near their family.

She attended Gardner Presbyterian Church.

Mildred was a proud KU alumni.

She was an avid reader.

Family was very important to her and she will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gail; and brother Albert Ellsworth.

Survivors include her son, G. Randy Thompson and wife, Joleen, Ottawa, Kan.; daughter, Karen S. Liu and husband, Kim, Gardner; sister, Bernice Stainbrook, San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Hospice.
