The Central Heights High School wrestling team continued its success Saturday at the Anderson County Invitational and Tuesday in duals at Jayhawk-Linn.
The Vikings took eighth out of 11 schools with 71 points.
Central Heights finished with two thirds and two fourths at Anderson County tournament.
Kaleb Grimsley (160 pounds) and Jake Green (285) took third place.
Grimsley won a 6-5 decison over Jayhawk-Linn’s Tommy Avery in the third-place match.
Grimsley pinned Blue Valley Southwest’s Kyle Pepper.
Dustin Asbury (125) and Eli Davis (220) finished fourth place.
“It was a good day,’ Central Heights coach Randy Hinderliter said.
“All of our wrestlers got a ton of mat time and each of them won at least one match. Kaleb Grimsely wrestled his best tournament.
“The matches he lost were to two opponents that eventually ended up in the finals.”
The Vikings did not win any of the duals Tuesday, but did have some quality matches.
Dustin Asbury and John Anderson won all three their matches against Jayhawk-Linn, Anderson County and Wellsville.
Grimsley and Davis won two matches.
“We were short-handed more than usual so gaining the team victories were out of the question,” Hinderliter said.
“However on the mat we did compete fairly well. But wrestling with spirit along with brains is what we will be working on.”
Central Heights competes Saturday at Pleasant Ridge.
