The Ottawa High School volleyball needs to grow together as a team.

“We need to unite as a team in order for us to achieve our potential this year,” Ottawa coach Kendra Oberzan said. “That unity is what is lacking right now. We play together when things are going well, but during the hard times is when we need to stick even closer together.”

Ottawa had good set in a 3-1 loss Tuesday in Ottawa to Spring Hill. Ottawa fell 25-18, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18.

“The third set was great,” Oberzan said. “Everything on our side was clicking, we were giving good effort and making plays. If we can do it right during one set, we need to be able to repeat it in all of them. We can’t let a couple of bad plays ruin an entire set or match. We need to be able to recover quickly and know that we can get back into a good rhythm of play.  The pieces are there, we just need to be able to hold them together for everything to work.

“We can do things well at times, but we struggle to do them well all of the time.”

Ottawa plays 6:30 p.m. today at Blue Valley Southwest.
