COLUMBUS — The Ottawa High School tennis players are learning that the more aggressive players are usually the victors.

Ottawa took out Columbus, Coffeyville and Labette County, but found Parsons to be a bit tougher Thursday in the Columbus Invitational.

Only the No. 2 doubles team of Courtney Houston/Brianna Pfizenmaier was successful against Parsons, winning in a tiebreaker (7-2).

“We need to be more aggressive,” Ottawa coach Eric Sparks said. “Parsons was more aggressive.”

Hannah Hedges and Ashlyn Rundle won its first three matches as did No. 1 doubles Katie Webber/Kelsie Ferguson.

Sparks said the players have been pretty consistent and have a high level of confidence right now.

The Cyclones play 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculata Invitational.
