IOLA — The Wellsville Lady Eagles fell short Friday night, losing to Iola 35-27.

Scoring troubles held the Eagles back in the on-the-road loss, Brock Campbell, head coach, said after the game.

“We just struggled scoring all night long. Mistakes on defense and having trouble scoring all night long made it a tough game for us,” Campbell said.

After scoring 15 points in the first half, leading scorer Erica McTaggart, senior, went down with an ankle injury, Campbell said. Her loss plagued the Eagle team for the remainder of the game, he said, with the team only scoring eight second-half points.

Friday’s loss brings the Eagles’ record to 7-12 on the season. An essential win for sub-state, the Eagles face off against Central Heights at home on Tuesday for their last game of the regular season.

GARNETT — Anderson County couldn’t win at home Friday, losing to Prairie View 49-34.

Anderson County came out slow, which hurt them in the game, Tim Bremerman, head coach, said.

“We kind of was trying to do what we wanted to and shied away from our game plan, I guess,” Bremerman said.

Anderson County trailed about 14 points throughout the game, Bremerman said, but saw a comeback in the fourth quarter.

“We finally started dong what we wanted to in the fourth quarter, getting the ball inside, but by that time it was kind of too late,” he said.

This loss brings the team to 6-12 on the season. Anderson County’s last two regular season games are set for next week. They will face Paola Monday and Iola Tuesday both at home.
