EASTON — Pleasant Ridge and Wellsville girls high school teams went in opposite directions in the fourth quarter of Friday’s season opener in Easton.

Pleasant Ridge turned a close game into a double-digit lead with a big fourth quarter.

Wellsville ended up falling 51-35.

Wellsville trailed just 34-30 after three quarters, but was outscored 17-5 in the final eight minutes.

“We were right with them until the fourth quarter when we went cold and they go hot,” Wellsville coach Brock Campbell said. “We only shot 40 percent from the free-throw line.”

Erica McTaggart led Wellsville with 12 points. Darcy Bonzo tossed in 11.

Wellsville (0-1) plays today at home against West Franklin.
