TOPEKA A bill that is calculated to bring on a lot of discussion over religion was introduced in the House yesterday by Fred Zutavern of Barton County. It prohibits the reading of the Bible, the singing of religious songs, the saying of prayers or any reference to the existence of a Diety, in the public schools of Kansas. There is a peculiar sect in Barton County, which is said to be responsible for this measure. This sect has been working for years to keep the Bible out of the public schools, and the bill covers all its teaching in this respect. The bill makes it a misdemeanor to use the Bible or cause it to be used in any educational institution supported entirely or in part by the state.
