As I was driving down Ottawa’s Main Street with my mother Tillie (she is 95 years old and living in Broken Arrow, Okla.), she said to me, “Oh, no, Bev, please slow down or we will have a green light.”
As I drove another block, she said, “Oh, no ... I think the light will be green again.”
“Mom, why do you want red lights?” I asked.
“Bev, look at those gorgeous flowers on Ottawa’s street corners,” she said. “I just want to sit a few seconds and enjoy how beautiful Ottawa’s Main Street has made itself.”
Congratulations, Ottawa! You have made red stoplights welcome, and your downtown flowers are truly beautiful.
