The Aug. 1 meeting of Sigma Chapter of ADK was at Hope House in Ottawa. An informative program was given by Mary Lois Yates, Hope House director.

After the program, President Therese Payne called the meeting to order. Roll call was answered by nine members sharing their favorite summer activity.

The minutes were accepted as read.† Cindy Ayers presented the treasurerís report. Virginia Cook made a motion to accept the treasurerís report, which was seconded by Lila Reekie. The motion passed.

The club received a thank you from Hope House, Franklin County Cancer Society, and from Susan B. Komen for its support since 2008. Members also received a note from Flo White.

Virginia made a motion to pay Barb Engel $13.20 for reminder cards. JoAnn Duvall seconded the motion, which passed.

The Change for Change Box now includes the Franklin County Literature Festival along with the Franklin County Cancer Society.

Persons attending leadership meetings will pay the whole fee and be reimbursed after attending the meeting.

Virginia sent a report to State President Del Jo Broadrick about the chapterís Altruistic projects, for the state presidentís newsletter.

Members discussed the possibility of sending minutes to members to keep all informed of chapter activities. More discussion will take place at a future meeting.

President Therese Payne shared highlights from the state presidentís newsletter. The club will be making a donation to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival this year instead of working at the festival.† ADK-ITE Weekend is Nov. 15-17. The deadline for attending the Nov. 16 reception is Oct. 1. Members will revisit this at their September meeting.

The state president asked Sigma ADK to procure a meeting place for the Kansas state meeting May 4, 2014. Prices were checked for two area churches. After much discussion, Virginia made a motion to accept responsibility for procuring a building for the state meeting in May. JoAnn seconded the motion. The motion failed.

Gloria Kruse, corresponding secretary, had sent in the annual chapter highlights summary.

Nancy Baker will be added to the November program with Bev Bird and Patty Nelson.

The Sept. 10 meeting was scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the City Hall meeting room, hosted by Gloria and Nancy Fischer. Light snacks were to be provided.

The meeting was closed with the singing of ďThe Lamp of ADK.Ē
