MCPHERSON — The Ottawa University baseball team Thursday split with McPherson in McPherson.

The Braves won the opener 11-6 and fell 3-1 in the nightcap.

Ottawa scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning of the opener.

Kyle Pener led the offense with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Cole Meeks pitched 6 1/3 innings in the win.

Ottawa could not get the bats going in the nightcap. Pener’s double scored Ottawa’s lone run.

Jacob Loucks took the loss, pitching six innings. He had nine strikeouts.

Ottawa (9-17, 3-8) plays 1 p.m. today at home against McPherson.
