Roger William Millbern, 69, Ottawa, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.  

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, with graveside services by Aerie Lodge No. 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Millbern 1 p.m. Monday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

He was born Friday, Feb. 26, 1943, in Vinland, the son of Jerald and Frances (Cooley) Millbern.

Roger was a lifelong Franklin County and Ottawa resident.

He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1961.

On June 26, 1975, Roger was united in marriage to Ginger Steenrod in Ottawa. They shared 37 years of marriage. She survives of their home. Roger previously was married to Gail Ballard in 1965. They later divorced.

Roger worked as a service technician at Ottawa Cable TV for 30 years, retiring in 1998.

Roger served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War in the Pacific Theater from 1961 to 1965 on the USS Pine Island as an Aviation Electricians Mate.

He was a life member of the Aerie Lodge No. 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ottawa, serving as treasurer and past president.

He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Millbern; and parents, Jerald and Frances Millbern.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger Millbern, Ottawa; daughter, Deanna Millbern and her companion, Mike Osborne, Ottawa; two sons, Tim Millbern and wife, Marlene, Ottawa, and Ryan Millbern and wife, Racheal, Ottawa; grandchildren, Amanda Cantrell and husband, Cody, Scotty Kiefer and fiancé, Shelby Florentin, Joel Young, MaKayla Millbern, Abigail Richardson, Sadie Millbern, Daniel Millbern, Kaytin Timmons, Teagen Marlar and Brayden Millbern; and grandpup, Willy Wonka; great-grandchildren, Kristopher Cantrell, Kassie Cantrell, Kolby Cantrell, Kaylee Cantrell and Italia Florentin; multiple nieces and nephews; stepfather, Floyd Schmoe, Ottawa; three brothers, Gary Millbern and wife, Donna, Toronto, David Schmoe and wife, Karen, Eudora, and Ron Schmoe, Jones Creek, Texas; and sister, Lori Kern, Horton.

The family suggests memorial contributions to O’Connell Youth Ranch through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
