MARIE SIMONS

Marie Simons, 92, Garnett, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Garnett.

She was born Oct. 23, 1916, to Frederick Alanson Simons and Elizabeth Johannah (Blum) Simons.  

She graduated from Garnett High School.  

She was a switchboard operator for the Santa Fe Railroad.  

She was preceded in death by sisters, Lucy Trimmel, Ada Hiner, Ruth Mitchell; and brothers, Walter Simons and Billy Simons.

Survivors include a twin sister, Marjorie Holdsworth, of Garnett; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at the Garnett Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the funeral service Monday.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church and left in care of the funeral home.
