BONITA NICEWANDER

Bonita Nicewander, 66, Ottawa, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kan.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Burial is set for Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

She was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Ottawa, Kan., to Earl Mendell and Bonnie (Jones) Mendell.

Bonita grew up in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School. he also attended Emporia State University for a time.

She was united in marriage to David Nicewander Aug. 25, 1965, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Ottawa.

Bonita was retired, but had worked for several years as the assistant city clerk for Ottawa.

Survivors include her husband, David Nicewander, of the home; father, Earl Mendell, Richmond Care Center, Richmond; sister-in-law, Jackie Clay, Rogers, Ark.; brother-in-law, Bradley Gilges and wife, Linda, Pomona, Kan.; and several cousins.

Bonita was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Jones Mendell.

The family suggests memorials to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and sent through Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa KS 66067.
