Myrtle Kennard, 98, Mulvane, formerly of Waverly, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Villa Maria in Mulvane. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington.

She was born Jan. 26, 1911, to Noah and Sarah Highley at Hooker, Okla.

She married Oscar L. Kennard April 11, 1931, at Colony. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Loma Hively, Mulvane, and Romona Bartee, Osage City; a son, Jerry Kennard, Pomona; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Kennard; sisters, Elsie Mable Ryan, Altis Marvy Schaapveld, Martha Marie Hunter and Millie Irene Roberts; and a brother, Elmer Wright Highley.

The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Myrtle Kennard Memorial Fund, which will be designated at a later date, and sent in care of the Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington KS 66839.
