MARIAN J. SCHMITT

Marian J. Schmitt, 86, WaKeeney, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, Wakeeney. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at WaKeeney City Cemetery, WaKeeney.

She was born May 20, 1923, near Quenemo to Simon J.  Stadel and Maude M. (Piper) Stadel.

She graduated from Ottawa in 1941.

She was a homemaker.

She married Lawrence Earl Schmitt April 30, 1942, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1996.

Survivors include a son, Jon Schmitt, WaKeeney; daughter, Judith Lee, New York City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Schmitt; grandson, Ronald Schmitt; brother, Ralph Stadel; and sister, Edna Yockey.

Family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

Memorial contributions can be made to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital LTC Special Needs Project and sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney KS 67672.
