GWENDOLA ANN CHANDLER

GWENDOLA ANN CHANDLER Gwendola Ann Chandler, 78, Austin, Texas, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

She was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Medford, Okla., to Thomas Y. and Ruby Lee (Mayse) Pederson.

She lived in Austin the past year, moving from Ottawa, where she had lived most of her life.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1949 and attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and Ottawa University.

She was a homemaker and worked as a bank clerk for First National Bank of Ottawa, now known as Solutions Bank.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Rotary Ann, both of Ottawa, and Wyandotte County Camera Club.

She married James J. Chandler March 4, 1978, in Ottawa. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a stepson, James Chandler, and his wife, Shelagh, Austin, Texas; stepdaughter, Christine Chandler, and her husband, Charles Zeugner, Austin, Texas; sisters, Wanda Pederson, Ottawa, Deloris Davidson and her husband, Bryce, Little River, Joyce Salsbury and her husband, Richard, Surprise, Ariz., and Inger Showalter and her husband, Ron, Ottawa; three stepgrandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Y. and Ruby Lee Pederson; sister, Tomalea Pederson; stepdaughter, Paulie Chandler; and stepgranddaughter, Ivy Pacheco.

Friends may pay their respects after 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in care Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.

I remember Gwendola fondly in many of my classes at OHS. She always had a big smile. Sincere condolences to family and friends.
