GARNETT — The Wellsville High School volleyball team is starting its late-season rush.

The Eagles went 4-1 Saturday en route to the Anderson County Invitational championship.

Wellsville avenged a pool loss to Burlington by topping the state-ranked Wildcats in the championship match.

“We really came together as a team at the end of a very long day to play our best ball,” Wellsville coach Eric Evans said. “I thought our serve and server receive set the tone for our team ... we were very consistent all day in these two areas.”

Wellsville (20-15) closes the regular season Wednesday at Prairie View.
