Brenda Kay Sheler, 49, Ottawa, Kan., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, after a long battle with liver disease.
Family members plan to meet with friends to celebrate Brenda’s life 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today, Sept. 28, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Cremation is planned. A private inurnment is expected later.
Brenda was born Oct. 5, 1963, in Plainview, Texas, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Dunlap) Sheler.
She was a lifelong Ottawa, Kan., resident, attending Ottawa High School.
Survivors include her parents, Donald and Helen Sheler; two sisters, Mary Ann Vaughn, Millport, Ala., and Ethel Brady and companion, Allen Matile, Ottawa; two brothers, Dennis Sheler and wife, Annette, Topeka, and Roy Dunlap and wife, Judy, Ottawa; aunt, Maxine Mason, Columbia, Mo.; two nieces, Tiffany McCurdy and husband, Noah, and Nicole Brady; nephew, Dakota Dunlap and wife, Breeze; and many other nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Ottawa Retirement Village Activity Fund, Meals on Wheels, Mid-America Nutrition Program or Elizabeth Layton Center, New Beginnings through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
