Richard Nienstedt, Ottawa city manager, is featured in the 2013 “Real Men Wear Heels” calendar, a fundraising project to help a local organization that serves domestic violence victims.
Sales of the Willow Domestic Violence Center’s “Red Shoe” calendar help fund the Lawrence-based center and its services to victims and their families, according to a news release.
The calendar featuring Neinstedt for the month of July includes area residents who were nominated for their support of the Willow Center, which serves Franklin, Douglas and Jefferson counties.
The fundraiser calendar can be purchased locally at Chris’ Corner Quilt Shop, 3593 N. Old U.S. 59, Ottawa. People also can leave donations at the quilt shop of such items as personal care products, baby diapers and household cleaners for the center, the news release said. Old cell phones also can be accepted, but clothing cannot, according to the release.
