8 OU softball players selected all-KCAC

Eight Ottawa University softball players received all-conference honors in a vote by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches.

 Senior Josie Hildebrand, junior Ashley Mundy and freshman Myah Sprew earned first-team honors. Sophomore Michelle Bowman, freshman Ashley Renaldi, junior Ali Salter and junior Erin Michael were second team selections. Sophomore Korey Higbie was selected to the honorable mention team.

 Hildebrand was named first-team selection for the second straight season. She started 41 games behind the plate. Hildebrand was second on the team in batting average (.396) and led the team in RBIs with 41. She tallied 53 hits, 26 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven home runs and one triple.

Her seven home runs is second all-time in the OU record books for a single season. Hildebrand had a .647 slugging percentage and a .435 on base percentage.

Mundy is a three-time all-KCAC performer, including two straight first-team selections. Mundy played in all 44 games. She had a .331 batting average with 49 hits, 29 runs scored and 26 RBI. Mundy hit 10 doubles, four triples, one home run and had a slugging percentage of .473, an on base percentage of .338 and 15 stolen bases.

Sprew finished third on the team in batting average with a .387. She had 43 hits with 20 runs scored, four doubles, two triples and five home runs. Sprew drove in 23 runs, had a slugging percentage of .595, an on base percentage of .417 and stole 10 bases.

 Bowman, a designated player, hit a school record average .478. She had 44 hits, 16 runs scored, one double and drove in 10 runs. Bowman also set a stolen base record with 29.

Salter had a 2.88 ERA and was named KCAC pitcher of the week. Her 69 strikeouts in a season is fourth all-time. She finished the season with a 12-6 record with 14 complete games and three shutouts.

Renaldi, compiled a 2.65 ERA, which ranks second all-time in school history. Her 100 strikeouts also is second all-time. Renaldi had a 12-7 record, three shutouts and was named KCAC pitcher of the week twice this season.

She held opponents to a .246 batting average and only allowed 116 hits and 35 walks.

She hit .383 with 23 hits, 10 runs scored, four doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI. Renaldi had a slugging percentage of .600 and an on base percentage of .413.

Michael had a batting average of .342 and stole 21 bases. She tallied 50 hits, 26 runs scored, 12 RBI and one double. Michael had a slugging percentage of .349 and an on base percentage of .360.

Higbie had a .326 batting average with 46 hits, 30 runs scored, 11 RBI, six doubles and one triple. Higbie stole 13 bases.
