The Ottawa Library has some hot new books from popular authors. This delicious smorgasbord of books includes these yummy offerings:
• “Hit and Run” by Lawrence Block
John Keller is a stamp collector … and a hit man. Having attained all he wanted materially, he has made the decision to retire, from being a hit man, that is. But when the beloved governor of Ohio is gunned down, it is Keller’s face that pops on the news. Keller is stranded in a motel room with no cash and his identity known to cops everywhere. What is an “innocent” hit man to do?
• “Swan Peak” by James Lee Burke
Det. Dave Robicheaux has left his cares and cases behind in Louisiana to vacation in rural Montana with his buddy Clete Purcell. A little fishing seems just the ticket to ease the stress they’ve experienced in post-Katrina New Iberia. But after Robicheaux and Clete stumble upon two brutally murdered bodies, they find that stress in Big Sky country can more than equal any they have experienced down south. What part in all this did a former country music star, a sexually deviant minister and a malicious oil tycoon play?
• “Chasing Darkness” by Robert Crais
A few years ago, Elvis Cole provided evidence that freed Lionel Byrd, accused of murdering a prostitute. Now evidence is found with Byrd’s body that implicates him in that murder, as well as six more. Two of these murders occurred after Byrd was freed with Cole’s help. Did Cole unwittingly help a serial killer?
• “Tribute” by Nora Roberts
Cilla McGowan is renovating her grandmother’s old house in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. As she clears out the attic, she discovers letters that may shed light on the mysterious death of her grandmother, a famous movie star. Are a series of threats she receives related to that death or to another secret the locals want to keep buried?
• “Prodigal Nun” by Aimee Thurlo and David Thurlo
Sister Agatha, with her restored Harley motorcycle and her ex-police dog, Pax, is a boisterous addition to the contemplative order she joins in New Mexico. But is the opinionated Sister Agatha the target of threats that have been received at Our Lady of Hope, or has she just stumbled into another dangerous situation?
• “Chasing Harry Winston” by Lauren Weisberger
Three best friends have lived the good life in the Big Apple. But despite having enjoyed the best perks life can offer, they are not so sure they like where they have ended up. Two of the friends make a pact to change their lives radically in one year; the third is swept along in spite of herself. Can a year really make a difference?
