OU women's soccer team wins KCAC title

The Ottawa University women’s soccer team clinched the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title Wednesday with a 6-0 victory over Southwestern College at Peoples Bank Field.

It was Ottawa’s first victory over the Moundbuilders in three years. Ottawa captured its first KCAC championship since the 2005 season.

Ottawa scored four goals in the first half. Sheridan Horner scored first on an assist from Amber Webb. The second goal was scored by Nicole Radcliffe off of an assist from Whitney Bowen.

Bowen netted the third goal off an assist from Raechelle Sloan. Amanda Talbott had the fourth goal off a pass from Radcliffe.

Bowen scored her second goal off an assist from Sloan.

The final tally was netted by Radcliffe off a pass from Tiffany Gardenhire.

Ottawa, who has a nine-match winning streak, improved to 8-0 and 13-4.

The Ottawa men solidified its No. 4 spot in the KCAC with a 3-0 victory.

The Braves received a career-high two goals from Jeremy Allison on senior night. Ottawa honored its six seniors: Colin Wylie, Allison, Jorge Cota, Matt Walton, Brian McDannald and Marvin Graham.

Ottawa struck quickly with Allison scoring at the three-minute mark off a pass from Philip Nguyen.

Ottawa’s second goal came two minutes into the second half as Nguyen scored off of a pass from Walton. Allison’s second goal made it 3-0.

Ottawa improved to 7-10 and 5-3.

The soccer teams close the regular season Saturday in Leavenworth against the University of Saint Mary.
