Central Heights volleyball wins pool, advances to state semifinals

SALINA — Central Heights High School volleyball team won its pool Friday in the 3A State Tournament Friday in Salina.

The Vikings will play 10 a.m. today in the semifinals against Phillipsburg, the second-place team in the other pool. The other semifinal pits Southwestern Heights against Wichita Collegiate.

The Vikings opened pool play with a three-game victory over Atchison County Community (25-17, 24-26, 25-16). Central Heights then defeated Frontenac, 25-7, 25-15.

Central Heights finished off its pool run with a three-game win over Southwestern Heights (25-19, 14-25, 25-22).

The Vikings, who are playing in their second semifinal state match in school history, improved to 39-4.
