OU women soccer completes perfect KCAC season

LEAVENWORTH — The Ottawa University women’s soccer team completed an undefeated Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference season Saturday with a 3-0 win over the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth.

The Ottawa men won 4-1.

It was the Lady Braves’ 10th straight victory and the first time  since the 2005 season that the Lady Braves finished the KCAC season undefeated.

The Lady Braves received goals from Jo-ann Glynn, Amanda Just and Tiffany Gardenhire. Ottawa received a team shutout with both goalkeepers splitting time in goal.

Just was named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team in District 7. She is the OU’s first women’s soccer player and the third Ottawa University student athlete to receive the honor. District Seven is made up of NCAA Division II and NAIA schools located in the midwest.

Just, a forward from Andover is a biology major. She was named KCAC freshman of the year, first team All-KCAC and earned honorable mention All-American last season.

Philip Nguyen scored his first career hat trick with three goals for the Braves. Colin Wylie scored the fourth for the Braves.The Lady Braves (14-4, 9-0) is the top seed in the KCAC Tournament.

The Braves (8-10, 6-3) takes a three-match winning streak into the tourney.
