OSAWATOMIE — The Central Heights High School baseball lineup started the season on fire.
The bottom half of the order had six hits and five RBIs in the Vikings’ 13-3 win Thursday over Osawatomie in Osawatomie.
“We hit the ball well as a team again getting some clutch hitting with two strikes on us,” Central Heights coach Jason Brown said. “We have different guys step up each outing.
“It is nice to know that you can get hitting out of all parts of your lineup.”
Jordan Horstick led the Vikings with three hits and four RBIs.
Chase Brown had three hits and two RBIs. Jacob Pryor had two hits and three RBIs.
The pitching and defense backed up the offense. Drew Beckwith went two innings and was pulled after feeling tightness in his arm.
Jordan Smith threw three innings with three strikeouts. Brown said he worked out of some jams.
Coby Robertson tossed the final inning.
“We played good defense,” Brown said. “We made the crucial plays when we needed to.
“Trever Burkdoll made a great backhand play at shortstop deep in the hole and threw out their leadoff in the bottom of the sixth. The team did a nice job of communicating and picking each other up when needed.”
Central Heights (3-0, 2-0) plays Monday at home against West Franklin and Tuesday at home against Osawatomie.
