RANTOUL — One of the largest holiday lighting displays in Franklin County was a little dimmer this weekend after thieves made off with some lights at the Memory Lane Christmas Lights show near Rantoul.

The annual lighting show takes place at Memory Lane Christmas Tree Farm, 2710 Vermont Road, where owner Harry Peckham, 64, Rantoul, told Franklin County Sheriff’s officers about 5:30 p.m. Saturday that unknown suspects had made off with two lighted displays that were part of the show, according to a sheriff’s report.

The value of the lights was estimated to be under $1,000, the report said.

The show, established in 1992, includes more than 60 individual figures this year, according to Memory Lane’s website.
