A superintendent candidate who was to be in Ottawa Wednesday now is tentatively scheduled to interview for the school districtís top administrative position next Wednesday.

The candidate had to reschedule because of a death in the family, Teresa Powers, Ottawa school board clerk, said. She said the board tentatively has rescheduled the interview for next Wednesday, but she was awaiting confirmation from the candidate.

The school board plans to bring in three candidates for on-site interviews in its search for former Superintendent Dean Kattís successor. Katt resigned March 1.

The other day-long candidate interviews are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

Board members opted not to release the three candidatesí names in advance, on the advice of their superintendent search team with the Topeka-based Kansas Association of School Boards, Powers said.

The public is invited to attend a reception for each candidate from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the board of education room at the school district office, 1404 S. Ash St., Ottawa.

The itinerary for the three interviews has the candidates scheduled to be in the community from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to meet with the school board, tour the districtís facilities, meet with teachers, administrators and others, Powers said.
