When Sara Caylor’s mother gave birth to her “30-plus” years ago at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, she probably didn’t think she would be sitting in the audience watching her daughter become mayor of Ottawa, Sara Caylor told the filled gallery at the Ottawa City Commission meeting Wednesday night at City Hall, 101 S. Hickory St., Ottawa.
Caylor took the oath of office Wednesday, succeeding outgoing Mayor Blake Jorgensen.
The Ottawa native thanked her family members for their support.
Caylor said her focus as a commissioner has been on “quality of life issues” and she planned to continue that initiative as mayor.
Commissioner Linda Reed is the new mayor pro tem.
