Since April 8, three Kansas Wesleyan University seniors, including two with local ties, have been sharing their work with the Salina Community. Graphic design majors Kendra Forshee, Sarah Roether and Alecia Smith will each have work up in the lobby in the Fine Arts building adjacent to The Gallery.

Forshee, from Delphos, studied graphic design at Cloud Community College and received her associate’s degree in fine art. She then transferred to Kansas Wesleyan to continue her education in. She worked as a graphic design intern at the Salina Art Center and in the admissions office at KWU.

Roether, who hails from Louisburg, obtained her degree in business administration at Allen Community College. At Kansas Wesleyan, she works as editor and photographer of the yearbook. During the school year, Roether has worked in the community doing design work, creating logos and branding materials. Most recently Roether collaborated on a project with the Salina Arts and Humanities Public Art initiative.

Smith, originally from Richmond, received her associates of arts degree from Cloud Community College. At KWU, Smith is studying graphic design and playing basketball for KWU. Smith currently is interning with Salina Arts and Humanities where she has worked on designs for the Smoky Hill River Festival.

All three will be recognized for their achievements during the Student Juried Exhibition Reception and Awards at 2 p.m. Sunday. They also will be on hand to discuss their work during the reception.

A gallery talk will be noon Tuesday in The Gallery. The Gallery is open to all ages and audiences. At each gallery talk, an informal discussion with the artist about their works is held. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch if desired; snacks and drinks will be provided.

Work will be displayed in The Gallery until May 7. In conjunction to works in the lobby, student work will be up in the Gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment on the weekends. For more information, contact Megan Berry at (785) 827-5541 ext. 5124 or
