Police Department News


• 10:59 a.m. Wednesday, 800 block of South Cedar Street, a 62-year-old Ottawa man reported an unknown suspect entered a store room and stole property.  

• Wednesday, no time given, Walmart Supercenter parking lot, 2101 S. Princeton St., a 23-year-old Ottawa man reported someone entered his vehicle and stole money.

• 2:31 p.m. Thursday, 700 block of Lincoln Street, a 46-year-old Ottawa woman reported a theft by a known suspect. The suspect, a 13-year-old Ottawa boy, later was arrested, according to a police report.


• 3:45 p.m. Thursday, 2214 S. Princeton St., Tamarra Fields, 37, Orange Park, Fla., reported her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Virginia Bromert, 70, Ottawa, according to a police report.

• 9:16 p.m. Thursday, Eighth and Cedar streets, a vehicle driven by Shaunistay Burnett, 24, Ottawa, entered the intersection at Eighth and Cedar streets and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Ottawa girl. Burnett was cited for disobeying a stop sign, according to a police report.

Fire Calls

Ottawa Fire Department

• 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, 2204 S. Princeton Circle Drive, firefighters responded to a report of gasoline leaking from a vehicle’s fuel tank. A small amount of absorbent was applied to the area, according to a fire department report.

• 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, 323 W. Brockport St., investigated a possible natural gas leak.  

• Firefighters assisted with 10 medical calls Wednesday and Thursday.
