Local residents interested in running for one of three openings on the Ottawa City Commission this spring have until noon Tuesday to file with the city clerk’s office.

The terms for city commissioners Gene Ramsey, Linda Reed and Jeff Richards are set to expire in April 2013. The top two vote-getters in the race for their seats will earn four-year terms, while the third-place finisher will receive a two-year term on the commission.

Incumbents Reed and Richards have filed to seek re-election. Rocky Fleer, a former city commissioner, also has entered the race.

Individuals interested in running for one of the open seats will need to allow time in their schedules to file Tuesday morning, because City Hall, 101 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The general election is planned for April 2. If a primary election is necessary, it would be Feb. 26.
