Police Department Arrests

9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., John Singleterry, 35, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Wilson and Mulberry streets, Lathen Hobbs, 18, on suspicion of littering. Hobbs also was cited with following too closely.

11:18 p.m. Wednesday, I-35, milepost 183 at Ottawa, Gregory Morrow, 21, Ottawa, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

12:39 a.m. Friday, 1300 block of South Main Street, Zachary Benedict, 26, Ottawa, and Thomas Bates, 26, Ottawa, on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

3:04 a.m. Friday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., Donnie Plouffe, 21, Wellsville, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

Police Department News


12:43 p.m. Thursday, 100 block of North Main Street, a 16-year-old Ottawa boy jumped from the Main Street bridge, falling about 30 feet into the partially frozen Marais des Cygnes River, according to a police officer at the scene. The boy was able to walk up the riverbank with assistance from police officers. He was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for evaluation. His condition was unknown Friday morning.

1:18 a.m. Friday, 1000 block of Ash Street, a 27-year-old Ottawa woman reported someone damaged her vehicle.


3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Walmart Supercenter, 2101 S. Princeton St., an 87-year-old Ottawa woman reported that her purse had been stolen.


1:08 p.m. Thursday, Seventh and South Main streets, a vehicle driven by Jimmie Wilkinson, 59, Richmond, struck a vehicle driven by Sandra Payne, 40, Pomona. Wilkinson was cited with disobeying a traffic signal, according to a police report.

2:05 p.m. Thursday, 600 block of South Cherry Street, a vehicle driven by Leslie Willis, 31, Ottawa, struck a vehicle driven by Scott Catron, 41, Ottawa. Willis was cited with disobeying a stop sign, illegal tag and no insurance, according to a police report.

1:09 p.m. Friday, Seventh and South Main streets, firefighters responded to a two-vehicle injury wreck.
