The Ottawa University volleyball team stayed within striking distance of Kansas Wesleyan with two sweeps Friday and Saturday at Wilson Field House.

Ottawa defeated Bethel (25-11, 25-14, 25-14) on Saturday and bested Saint Mary (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) on Friday. Ottawa moved its overall record to .500 at 12-12 and conference to 9-3.

The Lady Brave defense held the Bethel offense to a .032 hitting percentage including a minus-.062 percentage in the third set. Ottawa finished with 45 kills in 102 attempts for a .294 hitting percentage.

Nicole Gingery led Ottawa with 15 kills in 21 attempts for a .619 hitting percentage. This is her third straight game of hitting over .500.

Taylor Bridge finished with nine kills. She had a .389 hitting percentage. Lindsey Widen led the Lady Braves with 20 assists and Christa Hill tallied 14. Mohsani Hoveyda and Bridge had eight digs.

The Lady Braves had their offense rolling against Saint Mary with a .311 hitting percentage, 54 kills in 122 attempts and only 16 errors. Becca Colson and Gingery led Ottawa with double-digit kills. Colson hit a blistering .650 with 15 kills in 20 attempts. Gingery had 14 kills in 25 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.

Widen led Ottawa with 23 assists and Hill tallied 21.

Bridge, Haley Thompson and Keri Tanking had six digs each. Allie Arnold led Ottawa with six blocks.

Ottawa plays 7 p.m. Wednesday at home against Tabor.
