John Steelman is serving as interim director of the Court Appointed Special Advocates services for the Kansas Fourth Judicial District, which includes Franklin County.

Steelman, who also is court administrator for the Fourth Judicial District, is temporarily filling the position vacated by executive director Sara Caylor, who stepped down at the end of November to pursue her master’s degree.

Steelman said Friday he volunteered to take on the role of interim director. The board has not set a timetable for filling the position.

When announcing her resignation in October, Caylor said she would not be walking away from the organization and would continue to serve as a volunteer.

“It’s a wonderful organization,” Caylor said.
