The 2013 Ottawa Herald all-area cross-country team is a mix of veterans and newcomers. They all were team leaders.

The team members are:

Kennadee Huskey, Fr., Ottawa

    Huskey became the leader of the Ottawa High School girls team during the last half of the season. She finished 31st in the Frontier League race and 27th in the 4A regional. Both were run on the Ottawa home course.

Taylor Everhart, Jr., Wellsville

Everhart remained a consistent runner for the Eagles. She helped lead Wellsville to second place in the Pioneer League meet. She finished 17th in the league meet. Everhart took 18th at the regional.

She is a three-time all-area selection.

Lauren McDaniel, Fr., Wellsville

McDaniel had a record-breaking season to start off her high school career. She finished 10th at state. She ranks No. 1 on the all-time list for Wellsville in the 4-kilometer race at 16 minutes, 7 seconds.

She ran that time at the regional where she was the regional champion. She won the Pioneer League race and became the first league champ in 20 years for Wellsville.

Autumn Holloway, Jr., West Franklin

Holloway ended the season with a flurry. She took 11th at the Flint Hills League race for the second straight season. She led the Falcon girls at the regional with her 26th place finish.

She is a three-time all-area and all-league performer.

Abby Morrison, Jr., West Franklin

Morrison put together her most complete season. She gave the Falcons depth in races. She finished 27th at the Flint Hills League race and 29th in the regional.

Alexis Yelland, Sr., West Franklin

    Yelland became the leader of the West Franklin girls squad. She was the lone senior on the squad. She was the top Falcon finisher in nearly every race.

    She led West Franklin to third at the league race by taking seventh. She finished 28th at the regional.

    She is a three-time all-area selection.
