Robert “Bob” C. Lorenz, 74, Richmond, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Richmond Healthcare Center, Richmond, Kan.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Lorenz from 1 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment is planned for Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kan.

He was born Friday, Feb. 3, 1939, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Harry and Bessie (Mouzey) Lorenz.

He had been a Pomona resident since 2011, moving from Paris, Tenn. He also lived in Paducah, Ky.; Lakeland, Fla.; Stone Mountain, Ga.; and Portland, Ore.

Robert graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Aurora, Ill.

He worked as a truck driver for Henson Trucking in Princeton and Penny’s Concrete in Ottawa for many years, retiring in 2003. In his early years, he was a self-employed carpenter.  

Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge in Paducah, Ky., and California for more than 40 years and the Aerie Lodge No. 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa.

Surivivors include daughters, Lisa Smith, Paducah, Ky., Roberta “Bobby” Mallory, Pomona, Kan., Cynthea “Cindi” VanValkenburg, Osage City, Kan., and Rose Smith, Miles City, Mont.; son, Henry Smith, Metropolis, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bessie Lorenz.
